That was initially thanks to Tango Gameworks’ excellent Hi-Fi Rush, but that’s only the most high-profile example. Now two full months into the year, 2023 has already been a godsend for fans of rhythm games. I’ve never seen a video game conversation age so poorly so fast. Sure, niche indies like Melatonin still release regularly and Ubisoft’s Rocksmith quietly exists, but we were left to wonder if the genre was long past its peak. In talking about the golden age of music games like Guitar Hero, we began to mourn for a genre that had seemingly fallen out of fashion among mainstream audiences. This new edition will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Windows through purchase or a Game Pass subscription. In a blog post, Microsoft notes that it’s adding “information” about 545 United States airports that were previously missing from the game.
The new missions include more of the recently introduced Discovery Flights in new locations such as Singapore, Mount Cook, and Monument Valley. The game will add the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, VoloCity, Pilatus PC-6 Porter, CubCrafters NX Cub, and Aviat Pitts Special S1S as aircraft options. New missions, tutorials, photogrammetric cities, and other features (including an updated weather system and a developer mode replay system) are also being implemented.
